DIWALI is the most important Hindu festival as we all know! It
is also a great time to meditate and cleanse negative energy from our house and
life. It is a festival of 5 days, each day has a different significance.
DAY 1: DHANTERAS
Although people associate
DHAN with wealth, but DHAN in DHANTERAS is associated with DHANVANTRI
mythological doctor with AYURVEDA knowledge .Well being of our physical selfis
considered very important in VEDAS. If we are healthy then only life can be
well lived; meditation and good KARMA path can be followed.
It is on this day that Lord DHANVANTRI had
come out of the ocean with AYURVEDA knowledge for treating the ailments. He is depicted carrying a pot of nectar
in his hand; nectar or AMRIT is said to have ultimate healing properties.
So it is a good idea to buy a new metal pot or bowl filling it with
water and chant healing mantras or any positive affirmation 108 times, then whole
family can drink that energized water. It can be sprinkled around the house or
work place also. Personally I do not believe that a stone or water from other
individual can cure us of our sins and ailments. We all have to do our KARMA. But
I do believe if I meditate and collect my positive energy and infuse it in
water, I can cleanse my surrounding by sprinkling my own positivity around me. After
all we are our best friends and we would think best for ourselves.
A simple mantra which sends vibration to all CHAKRAS :
OM LAM VAM RAM YAM KSHAM HAM SAM MAATANGINI SWAAHA [pronounce A as U sound; as in words SUM,
UMBRELLA]
DAY 2: NARAKA CHATURDASHI
It is said that this day
Krishna defeated NARKASUR demon. To me it simply means end of negativity and
fear.
So I simply chant Gayatri Mantra and burn camphor lamp which clears negativity. Everyone can make their own ritual to cleanse negativity.

DAY 3: LAKSHAMI POOJA
This is the most auspicious of
all five days. People perform Lakshami Pooja this day.One can buy Lakshami Yantras , which I personally do not do.
We can make one for our self also.

and on left put the plate. On the plate at one side mix few drops of milk and
saffron strands ; with this yellow milk write AUM in center of plate and put
flowers.
Chant mantras or
affirmations in any language comfortable [DIVINE understands all languages] .
This way we energized water and our shrine. Now put flowers in water bowl and add few honey drops. Do not put out any flame, let it extinguish naturally. Ideally should burn till dawn next day. These silver coins can be wrapped in red or yellow cloth and kept in money place or at the entrance of house or in wallet for 1 year.

DAY 4: GOVARDHAN POOJA \ ANNAKOOT \ VISHWAKARMA DAY
This day is celebrated in many ways according to
customs of people all over India. This is a day of new beginnings. It is also new year of the oldest calendar of VIKRAMI SAMVAT.
All the positive energy gathered in earlier day marks a new positive beginning this day.
DAY 5: BHAIYA DOOJ
This festival is celebrated
for love of brothers and sisters. Sisters apply TILAK on forehead of brothers
and bless them with long life and prosperity. Brothers give gift to sisters.
One can use the energized yellow kesar - milk from the DIWALI day to put mark
on brother’s forehead.
